The Essence of Normobaria
Normobaria – not to be confused with hyperbaria – is a therapy that consists in spending some time, typically, 2 hours, in a space characterized by increased pressure, which results in a better oxygenation of the tissues. The effect is amplified by a higher amount of carbon dioxide and of oxygen in the inhaled air. Futhermore, the air in normobaria is enriched with hydrogen. Such conditions are ideal for healing because the organism regenerates much faster and repairs its cells, if damaged, more easily.
The first normobaric room was created in 2013 by Jan Pokrywka, MD, in Klodzko (Poland), whio had analyzed the impact of the environment on health. Based on the available research, he came to the conclusion that the current conditions for life on Earth are not optimal. They were more advantageous in the past, when the atmospheric pressure was approx. 1500 hPa, and the air contained approx. 40% oxygen (O2), 1–3% carbon dioxide (CO2) and approx. 0.5% molecular hydrogen (H+). Such air parameters sustain human health and longevity and such parameters are at the very core of the concept of normobaria.
Normobaria Eden was established in the second half of 2019. It was designed in accordance with the parameters and recommendations of the doyen of normobaria in Poland, Jan Pokrywka, MD. It was built by most qualified specialists adhering to the highest standards and ecological requirements. As such it is a perfect resting place and area for relaxation and peace of mind. The normobaric room’s walls in the Normobaria Eden are covered with Portuguese cork and cotton wallpapers (the so-called Japanese plaster). The former prevents the formation of mould and fungi as well as the accumulation of moisture. It is entirely anti-allergic and improves the microclimate of the interior. The latter is a natural blend of cotton, silk and minerals amassed by plant substances with anti-static properties. As a result the Normobaria Eden offers to its visitors a great comfort, a friendly ambience and pleasant feelings.
Normobaria Eden’s setting among green sector gives it an even more romantic and soothing trait. Normobaria Eden is located in Budy Mszczonowskie, near Termy Mszczonów and Park of Poland Suntago Wodny Świat, currently the largest water park in Europe. This adds yet another reason to visit it.
Normobaria Eden is nowadays one of the largest and most modern normobarias in Poland. Up to 30 people can stay there at the same time. It offers equally 12 comfortable places to sleep in – thus it is possible to spend there 10 hours in a row.
Normobaria Eden is adapted for people with disabilities.
When is it worth using?
Whenever you take into account condition of your body, its oxygenation and regeneration, healing and slowing down the aging process of the body.
Advantages of using the Normobaria Eden you may like to keep in mind:

Contraindications
In Jan Pokrywka’s view, normobaria, understood as described above, is optimal for health and there are no contraindications for staying in it. In few cases (e.g. obstruction of the Eustachian tube impending middle ear pressure equalization), it may be necessary to extend the time of passage through the airlock when entering and leaving a normobaric room.
A slower passage through the airlock may be also recommended in the case of claustrophobia, upper respiratory tract infections, otitis, damage to the eardrum, optic neuritis, pneumothorax, emphysema, past pulmonary surgery or temporal bone surgery, possession of pacemaker.
What’s the session in the Normobaria Eden like?
Normobaria Eden is a room where the air pressure is approx. 1500 hPa. During a typically 2-hour session, you breathe a perfectly composed oxygen mixture. With a higher proportion of carbon dioxide in the blood, the human organism absorbs oxygen better. As for hydrogen it prevents the natural breakdown of cells and is an effective antioxidant delaying the aging process. More particularly:
I) The increased content of carbon dioxide in the blood enables better absorption of oxygen by the cells of the human body, insofar as it facilitates the dissociation of oxygen from haemoglobin in the capillaries where it is most needed (Bohr effect).
II) Additionally, in a normobaric room, the air is enriched with molecular hydrogen, which is ca 10k higher than outside (this means that the air in a normobaric room contains ca 0.5% of hydrogen). Hydrogen slows down cell division and extends their life. Hydrogen is also an exceptionally effective and selective antioxidant. As such it successfully neutralizes oxygen radicals that contribute to accelerated aging of cells. Accordingly, the longer the stay in a normobaric room, the more pronounced the effects of normobaria are, but even after just one 2-hour visit, up to 100% of the stem cells are being multiplied. Circulating through the body they get to damaged cells and tissues and then cause them to regenerate. Consequently just such a short visit to normobaria already constitutes a milestone in enhancement of human organism’s oxygenation and, therefore, its overall progress towards well-being.
While staying in the Normobaria Eden you are offered RED-OX water. It is a perfectly clean, properly structured water with negative redox potential. It is a simple, effective and safe way to neutralize free radicals and to eliminate excessive acidity, caused usually by foodstuffs, more esp. acidifying food (e.g. alcohol, coffee, cola, energy drinks, black tea, sugar-sweetened beverages, protein dietary supplements, meat products, confectionery, and animal fats).
